When I was 14years old, I got my first Montgomery Ward Interlocking Plate (110lb) weight lifting set. My Mother’s reaction was, “Here’s another thing you’ll start and never complete”.  That was over 58 years ago!

 

At age 59 I entered my first Powerlifting Contest. Age 61 found me bench pressing my fantasy weight of 405lbs. Now at age 71, I have an IPL World Single-Ply Bench Press Record, a USPA American National Single-Ply Bench Press Record and 3 Arizona State Records: one each in the Raw Bench Press, Single-Ply Bench Press and one in the Raw Deadlift. I’ve always said “I don’t out lift them, I just out live them!".

 

My wife Debra enjoys our 2 hour Resistive and Strength Conditioning workouts as much as I do. As a result of these intense workouts and with my encouragement, she began to train with the goal of competing in her first NPC Figure Competition at 64 years old.

 

Since she is tall and has a slender build, I needed to come up with an exercise or piece of equipment to target her rear delts and upper back.

 

We tried a number of exercises and grips but nothing was really building her back and making it “POP” for the competition.

 

So after trial and error and a few prototypes, I designed and developed the Patented Hammer Gripz. These new revolutionary Gripz allowed Debra to develop her rear delts and upper back to achieve a 4th place in her first year of NPC Figure Competition and a 2nd place the following year.

 

During the process of training Debra for her first NPC Figure Competition, we discovered a number of additional exercises that used our newly created Hammer Gripz to develop, build and effectively target other muscle groups.

 

Having personally found success with the Hammer Gripz we then field tested them with a Professional Fitness Trainer; she and her clients loved them! Debra and I then filed for a Utility and Design Patent in order to offer the Hammer Gripz to those who enjoy Resistive Strength Training. We now have been awarded a US Patent for the Hammer Gripz.
